My name is Ashley. Earlier this year, I found out that I was pregnant. I was only 17. I couldn’t believe it. My mom and I weren’t really getting along and this didn’t help. When I finally told her, she told me that I had had to find somewhere else to live. I talked to my guidance counselor at school who told me about Joann’s Cottage. I wasn’t sure about living in a place like that; I had always lived with my mom. I decided to give it a shot. After my interview, I was really relieved when they told me that I was chosen. At first, it was hard for me to get used to having rules, chores, and a curfew. But, I know that those things are there to help me become a great mom. Now, I have a baby and I am so glad to be at Joann’s Cottage. I have everything I need for my baby and me. I know that I am learning to become a good mom. The lessons I am learning now are going to help me for the rest of my life.
